Arsenal Sporting Director Edu Gaspar Set to Leave Club
Arsenal is set to lose its sporting director, Edu Gaspar, according to recent reports. Edu, who joined the club in July 2019 as technical director, has been instrumental in a significant culture shift at Arsenal. During his tenure, he played a key role in the hiring of manager Mikel Arteta and the team’s subsequent battles for the Premier League title. He was promoted to sporting director in November 2022.
Edu’s decision to leave has come as a surprise to the club. The exact timing of his departure is currently unclear. Before his role as a director, Edu had a four-year playing career with Arsenal from 2001 to 2005, during which he won two Premier League titles under the management of Arsene Wenger.
Speculation suggests that Edu may be joining forces with Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis and his network, although this has not been officially confirmed.
