Arsene Wenger, the legendary former manager of Arsenal, has confidently backed his former club ahead of their crucial Champions League clash with Bayern Munich.

The second leg of the quarter-final tie between Arsenal and Bayern Munich is evenly poised, with both teams locked at 2-2 after the first leg at the Emirates Stadium.

In recent weeks, both teams have faced setbacks in their domestic leagues, with Bayern Munich losing their Bundesliga dominance after a defeat to Bayer Leverkusen, ending a streak that began back in 2012. Meanwhile, Arsenal suffered a blow to their title hopes following a surprising 2-0 loss to Aston Villa, leaving them trailing behind Manchester City in the Premier League title race.

Despite these challenges, Wenger remains optimistic about Arsenal’s chances against Bayern Munich, noting the German side’s recent vulnerability at home in the Bundesliga.

Speaking to beIN SPORTS, Wenger stated, ‘Arsenal against Bayern is a 50-50 game. Bayern have recently been vulnerable at home, they lost to Dortmund in a crucial match, so they will not be 100% confident. I still think Arsenal might just glide through against Bayern.’

When questioned about the basis of his bold prediction, Wenger admitted, ‘A bit of both, a combination of head and heart.’

As the second leg approaches, key players like Bukayo Saka are facing fitness concerns after sustaining injuries in the recent defeat to Aston Villa. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta remains hopeful that they will be available for the crucial match in Munich.

Arteta emphasized the significance of the upcoming game, highlighting the journey his team has taken to reach this stage in the Champions League after years of absence. He expressed confidence in Arsenal’s ability to seize the opportunity and advance to the semi-finals.

Arsenal’s last Champions League semi-final appearance dates back to 2009, and with the tie finely poised, the clash at the Allianz Arena holds the promise of a memorable night for the Gunners.
