Ashton Jeanty’s Dominant 2024 Season: Stats and Records
Ashton Jeanty, the junior running back for the Boise State Broncos, is having a phenomenal 2024 season that has garnered significant attention and accolades. Through the first eight weeks of the season, Jeanty has amassed impressive statistics that place him at the top of various college football categories.
Jeanty has rushed for 1,248 yards and 17 touchdowns, leading the country in rushing yards and ranking second in rushing touchdowns, just behind Army‘s Bryson Daily who has 19 touchdowns. His average of 9.9 yards per carry is one of the highest in the nation.
In his season-opening game against Georgia Southern, Jeanty set school records with 267 yards and six touchdowns, which also tied the Mountain West record for touchdowns in a single game. He has had three games with at least 200 rushing yards and four games with three or more touchdowns.
Jeanty’s performance has put him on track to potentially break Barry Sanders‘ single-season records for rushing yards (2,628) and touchdowns (37) set in 1988. With six games remaining in the regular season, Jeanty is projected to finish with approximately 2,496 yards and 34 touchdowns, although his actual pace could see him exceed these numbers.
In addition to his rushing stats, Jeanty has also contributed in the passing game, catching nine passes for 39 yards and a touchdown this season.
His stellar performance has made him the frontrunner for the Heisman Trophy, with odds of +200, ahead of other top contenders like Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel and Miami quarterback Cam Ward.
