Assault on Men Chanting ‘Jai Shri Ram’ on Ram Navami Triggers Outrage in Bengaluru
Three men in Bengaluru faced a harrowing ordeal when they were assaulted for chanting ‘Jai Shri Ram‘ while celebrating Ram Navami in the Chikkabettahalli area.
The incident unfolded as the men, driving in a car and holding a flag, raised the religious slogan, only to be confronted by two individuals on bikes demanding they switch to chanting ‘Allah Hu Akbar‘ instead.
What began as a verbal altercation soon turned physical, with the bikers and some locals attacking the occupants of the car in a shocking display of religious intolerance.
BM Laxmi Prasad, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for Northeast Bengaluru, provided insights into the incident, stating that the three youths were targeted for their chanting and suffered injuries as a result.
The DCP disclosed that a case has been registered at Vidhyaranyapura Police Station under various sections of the Indian Penal Code related to religious sentiments and assault, with efforts underway to identify and apprehend the assailants.
