Athletics Prepare for Key Rematch with Rangers in Arlington

ARLINGTON, Texas – The Oakland Athletics are set to face the Texas Rangers in a four-game series that kicks off Monday, April 28, 2025, at Globe Life Field.
The A’s recently concluded a successful six-game home stand, finishing with a 4-2 record against the Texas Rangers and the Chicago White Sox. This home stand marked the team’s first winning stretch at Sutter Health Park, where they celebrated two walk-off wins.
Currently, the A’s stand at 14-14 after winning eight of their last twelve games, showing signs of improvement after a rocky start to the season. However, their offense has struggled lately, as first baseman Nick Kurtz has had a challenging time at the plate, managing only four hits with seven strikeouts over the past series.
Left fielder Tyler Soderstrom has also gone silent, failing to hit a home run for over a week. Meanwhile, Jacob Wilson is dealing with his first slump of the year, with only five hits in his last 23 at-bats. On a positive note, Brent Rooker has been a bright spot, performing well in the batter’s box.
The A’s will rely on the continued emergence of second baseman Luis Urias, who has batted three home runs in the last seven games. They will need strong performances from their hitters to counter the Rangers’ impressive pitching staff.
The Rangers entered the season with high hopes but have fallen to second place in the AL West after recent setbacks, including two losses to the San Francisco Giants. The Rangers currently rank last in the league for runs scored but have managed to hit 30 home runs as a team.
Wyatt Langford has stood out as the Rangers’ best hitter, boasting an impressive .344 batting average with six home runs this season. Missing from the lineup will be shortstop Corey Seager, who is sidelined by an injury.
In the opening game, the A’s will send left-hander JP Sears to the mound, who has posted a solid 3.21 ERA this season. Sears hopes to build on his last performance against the Rangers, in which he allowed only two runs.
Texas starter Patrick Corbin will aim to continue his strong performance after joining the Rangers earlier this season. Corbin has maintained a 3.77 ERA over three starts, including a win against the A’s last week.
As this pivotal series unfolds, both teams will look for key performances to set the tone for the remainder of the season.
