Madrid, Spain – Atletico Madrid has made an enquiry about signing winger Antony from Manchester United. The Brazilian player, currently on loan at Real Betis, has impressed in La Liga, scoring six goals and providing four assists in 19 games.

Antony, 25, initially struggled at Manchester United after joining from Ajax for £81 million in 2022. His time at Old Trafford has been tumultuous, leading to a loan move to Real Betis where he has regained his form. Under coach Manuel Pellegrini, he has become a key player in the team’s plans.

In a recent Europa Conference League match, Antony scored a crucial goal against Fiorentina, giving Real Betis a 2-1 advantage heading into the second leg. This performance has attracted interest from Atletico Madrid, which is seeking to strengthen its squad.

According to reports, Atletico is prepared to pay between €40 million and €50 million (£34 million to £42.5 million) for Antony. This price tag is more appealing to Atletico compared to the higher demands of Manchester United, which is looking to recoup a significant portion of the original transfer fee.

Real Betis has expressed a strong desire to keep Antony beyond his loan, viewing him as a vital piece in their attack. However, they face challenges in negotiating a permanent deal, especially with Atletico’s interest now complicating matters.

Antony’s recent performances have shown a renewed confidence, which he struggled to find during his time in England. As the summer transfer window approaches, both Real Betis and Atletico Madrid await developments on his future.

“Atletico Madrid has already asked about him,” Spanish outlet El Chiringuito reported, emphasizing the keen interest from the La Liga side.
