Atlético De Madrid Footballers During Training

MADRID, Spain — As Atlético de Madrid prepares for the summer transfer market, the challenge of offloading underperforming players remains a complex task. With the current season nearing its end, the club’s sports management is focused on making room for new reinforcements.

Amidst various offers for different players, the team is not in urgent need to part ways with every player who receives interest, complicating potential departures. Indeed, there are several players expected to exit the Metropolitano, particularly as teams from Türkiye show interest in acquiring some of the club’s less utilized talent.

Among those potentially on their way out is midfielder Thomas Lemar, who has long been in discussion as a viable candidate to leave Atlético. Lemar’s lack of consistency has hindered potential transfers, as clubs from Türkiye expressed interest but with conditions. While Turkish teams often offer lucrative salaries, they are generally less willing to pay significant transfer fees.

In contrast, forward Alexander Sorloth, who has had a strong impact in recent matches, remains essential to coach Diego Simeone. Besiktas has pursued Sorloth, attempting to secure his loan for the remainder of the season. However, the Norwegian has been pivotal in scoring crucial goals and contributing to the squad’s rotation.

Another player in the spotlight is Ángel Correa, who is also attracting interest from international clubs including Rayados de Monterrey. Correa’s contract is set to run until 2026, and Atlético’s management is keen to extend the contract, indicating a preference for him to remain in Madrid. Ultimately, the decision will rest with the player.

As the summer approaches, the restructuring of Atlético’s squad is imminent, with a clear priority on enhancing the team’s competitiveness to contend for titles. The management faces a critical window in balancing squad needs and player departures, fostering hopes for a successful transfer market.
