Auburn’s Chris Moore Injured in NCAA Tournament Game Against Alabama State

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Auburn forward Chris Moore left the NCAA Tournament round of 64 game against Alabama State on Thursday after suffering a left ankle injury. The incident occurred at the 12:20 mark in the first half when Moore went up for a layup, drawing a foul but landing awkwardly.
Moore, a fifth-year senior, was immediately substituted out of the game and did not take free throws following the foul. He was seen heading directly to the locker room for evaluation. As of the latest updates, his return to the game remains uncertain.
Minutes later, Moore appeared on the bench, attempting to walk off the injury and spending time on a stationary bike, signaling some level of resilience. Despite his contributions throughout the season, his limited scoring—1.2 points in 10.7 minutes per game across 33 games—may raise concerns for the Tigers moving forward in the tournament.
Given Moore’s injury, coach Bruce Pearl may need to rely on reserve forward Jalen Hudson as a potential replacement. Hudson has seen limited action, playing just two minutes in the current game, and has averaged 1.5 points in 6.0 minutes over 26 games this season.
The Tigers, aiming to advance further in the tournament, will hope for Moore’s swift recovery. As reported by Adam Cole, the Auburn athletics beat writer for the Montgomery Advertiser, fans are eager to know about Moore’s condition as the game progresses.
