Auburn Tigers Boost Roster with Tulane Transfer Rayshawn Pleasant

Auburn, Alabama – Auburn University football team has announced a significant addition to their roster. Cornerback Rayshawn Pleasant, a transfer from Tulane, has committed to the Tigers. Pleasant made the announcement on his social media, opting for Auburn after also considering a visit to USC.
With two years of eligibility left, Pleasant brings valuable experience to Auburn’s defensive lineup. After redshirting in 2022, he played in the 2023 and 2024 seasons at Tulane, gathering impressive statistics. In 2024, he recorded 35 tackles, four pass breakups, an interception returned for a 100-yard touchdown, a fumble recovery, and a tackle for loss. He was also active as a kick returner, averaging 34.5 yards on 13 attempts, with two returns for touchdowns.
Pleasant highlighted that his decision was influenced by the opportunity to play in the SEC and be part of a vibrant college town. “Just because of the opportunity they have, the winning… Being around some great coaches who just care about you more than football,” he said.
The addition of Pleasant comes at a crucial time for Auburn’s cornerback position after the departures of players like JC Hart and Tyler Scott into the transfer portal. A further setback occurred when true freshman cornerback Devin Williams suffered a torn ACL during the spring.
Defensive coordinator Wesley McGriff is focused on strengthening the cornerback role, hoping to develop Pleasant into a first-round talent. “Coach Crime‘s vision for me is making me a first rounder,” Pleasant shared, expressing confidence in McGriff’s capabilities.
Pleasant is the fourth transfer to join Auburn during the spring portal window, following defensive linemen James Ash and Jay Hardy, and linebacker Caleb Wheatland. Under head coach Hugh Freeze, Auburn is looking to revamp their program, entering the 2025-26 season with a record of 11-14 in his first two years. The addition of more talent from the transfer portal has become essential to the Tigers’ strategy.
