Austin Fc Vs Vancouver Whitecaps Match

VANCOUVER, BC – Austin FC will travel to Canada to face Vancouver Whitecaps FC at BC Place on Saturday, April 12, with kickoff set for 6:30 p.m. CT/4:30 p.m. PT. This match is part of the 2025 MLS season and fans can watch it in English or Spanish on MLS Season Pass via Apple TV. Local radio broadcasts will be available in English on iHeart Radio’s Alt 97.5 and in Spanish on Univision’s TUDN Radio Austin (104.3-HD2, KLQB-FM).

In preparation for the match, Austin FC announced the signing of midfielder Ervin Torres to a Short-Term Agreement from the club’s MLS NEXT Pro affiliate, Austin FC II. Torres will be eligible to participate against Vancouver, marking the first time he has signed such an agreement this season.

Torres, a 17-year-old Austin FC Academy product, has made 30 appearances for Austin FC II since 2023. He has recorded four goals and one assist. His contributions earned him a spot as an MLS NEXT All-Star in 2023.

The young midfielder made his MLS debut on October 19, 2024, becoming the first player to represent Austin FC at all three levels: the first team, second team, and academy. At just 16 years and 340 days old, he also became the second-youngest player to appear in an MLS match for Austin FC.

A club may sign players aged 25 or younger from its affiliate up to a maximum of four Short-Term Agreements within a season, allowing for a maximum of 16 days. A player may appear on match rosters up to four times and in non-league games during these agreements.

As for player availability, several members of both teams will be sidelined or are questionable for the match. Notable absences for Austin FC include Leonardo Barroso, Chase Gasper, Chris Mueller, and David Poreba, all ruled out due to lower body injuries. Additionally, Sam Rogers and Jonathan Dean are listed as questionable for this weekend’s match.

On the opposing side, Vancouver Whitecaps FC look to build on a recent 2-0 victory over Colorado Rapids, which marked a strong start to their season with a record of 5 wins, 1 loss, and 2 draws. The win positioned them at the top of the Supporters’ Shield standings.

Vancouver’s success can be attributed to the collective efforts of their roster, with 13 different players scoring this season. Goalkeeper Yohei Takaoka has been particularly effective, recording four clean sheets, putting him among the league leaders.

This Saturday’s match promises to be a significant test for both teams. Austin FC enters the game riding a four-match unbeaten streak but has struggled offensively with only five goals scored across their first seven matches. In their previous eight encounters, Vancouver holds the advantage with a record of 5 wins, 1 loss, and 2 draws against Austin FC.

As part of their campaign, Vancouver will also highlight their Women and Girls in Sport initiative during this match. Fans can expect an exciting atmosphere as both teams strive for a crucial win in this tightly contested Western Conference matchup.
