Austin FC Hosts LA Galaxy in Crucial Match at Q2 Stadium

AUSTIN, Texas — Austin FC will host LA Galaxy on Saturday, April 19, with kickoff set for 12:45 p.m. CT at Q2 Stadium. Fans can watch the match in English or Spanish on MLS Season Pass via Apple TV and on national television on FOX and FOX Deportes. Locally, the game will be broadcast in English on iHeart Radio’s Alt 97.5 and in Spanish on Univision’s TUDN Radio Austin (104.3-HD2, KLQB-FM).
In the lead-up to the match, the Player Availability Report has been issued, detailing the status of players for both teams. After a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Houston Dynamo FC on April 12, the Galaxy aims to build on that momentum as they travel to face Austin FC.
Saturday’s matchup marks the ninth regular season encounter between LA Galaxy and Austin FC, with the Galaxy holding a 5-2-1 advantage in the all-time series. In the previous season, both teams faced off twice, with LA leading 1-1-0. Historically at Q2 Stadium, the Galaxy has seen mixed results, with a record of 1-2-1 in four matches there.
The last time these two teams met was on October 5, 2024, when LA secured a 2-1 victory. This weekend’s match is also significant for Galaxy Head Coach Greg Vanney, as it will mark his 400th match in all competitions with the club, both as a player and coach.
Vanney has had a storied career with the Galaxy, having scored 29 goals and provided 23 assists in 232 appearances as a defender from 1996 to 2001 and in 2008. As a head coach, he has managed 167 matches across all competitions, with a remarkable .708 playoff winning percentage that ties for the best in MLS history.
Regarding player availability, several individuals are listed as out for LA Galaxy, including Derrick Williams, Mikkel Desler, and several others due to injuries. Nathan Byrne and Tim Ream are marked as questionable, adding uncertainty to the Galaxy’s lineup as they face Austin.
Notably, Charlotte FC will also play on April 19, hosting expansion side San Diego FC for the first time. This match, set for 7:30 p.m. ET, promises excitement as Charlotte aims to fortify their unbeaten home record against San Diego’s new talents. Both matches reflect the ongoing intensity of the MLS Regular Season.
