Australian Olympic Hockey Player Arrested In Paris For Cocaine Purchase Attempt

In a surprising turn of events, Australian men’s Olympic hockey player Tom Craig has found himself in hot water after being arrested in Paris. On the evening of August 6, it was reported that he was attempting to buy cocaine, which led to his arrest.

The Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) confirmed the player’s arrest but did not disclose his identity. However, it was soon revealed through AAP that the player in question is none other than Kookaburras star Tom Craig. Just 28 years old and from Sydney, he was competing in his second Olympic Games after helping the team win a silver medal in Tokyo.

In a statement released on Thursday, the AOC mentioned, “While no charges have been laid yet, we are continuing to support the team member and look into the situation further.” It seems the committee is taking the incident very seriously and is committed to providing assistance.

According to the Paris Public Prosecutor’s office, police noticed the transaction happening in the 9th arrondissement. An investigation was launched when they observed an attempted purchase of cocaine, resulting in the arrest of both the buyer and seller.

Following the Kookaburras’ disappointing exit from the tournament, where they lost 2-0 to the Netherlands, the team had attended a function at their hotel. The women’s team, known as Hockeyroos, faced their own setback, falling to China with a score of 3-2. It’s a tough time for Australian hockey on the Olympic stage, and this unexpected incident only adds to their challenges.
