Author Jackie Phamotse Sentenced To House Arrest For Defaming Basetsana And Romeo Kumalo

Author Jackie Phamotse has been sentenced to two years of house arrest after being found guilty of defaming power couple Basetsana and Romeo Kumalo on the social media platform X.

The sentence was handed down in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday. Phamotse will be under correctional supervision during the two-year house arrest period. In addition to house arrest, she has also been fined R12,000, which carries a four month imprisonment alternative, and R18,000, which could result in six months imprisonment.
