Axar Patel Shines with 200th Wicket Milestone in T20I Against Afghanistan
Left-arm spinner Axar Patel showcased his exceptional skills once again in the second T20I match against Afghanistan. Patel, who has been in fine form throughout the series, picked up two crucial wickets for just 17 runs in his four-over spell at the Holkar Stadium in Indore on Sunday.
With this exceptional performance, Patel also achieved a significant milestone, becoming the 11th Indian bowler to reach 200 wickets in T20 cricket. Having played 52 matches for India, he now boasts a total of 49 wickets in T20I cricket.
Patel’s game-changing spell began when he was brought into the attack during the final over of the powerplay. Immediately, he dismissed Afghanistan captain Ibrahim Zadran with a beautifully flighted delivery that crashed into the top of the off-stump.
This wicket proved to be crucial for India, as they were successful in pegging back Afghanistan, who had already lost the aggressive opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz early on to Ravi Bishnoi’s excellence with the ball. The Indian spinners executed their skipper Rohit Sharma‘s game plan superbly.
