Background Actor Sues Actress Mia Goth for Intentionally Kicking Him on Film Set
A background actor filed a lawsuit on Friday against actress Mia Goth, alleging that she intentionally kicked him in the head during a scene while filming the A24 horror sequel “Widow Valley.”
James Hunter claims he suffered a concussion when Goth kicked him on the set of the third installment in the trilogy directed by Ti West and starring Goth. The previous films released in 2022 were titled “X” and “Pearl.”
Hunter, hired to play the role of “Dead Parishioner,” endured hours lying on the ground covered in fake blood, battling ants and mosquitoes. In the scene, Goth was supposed to run past him, occasionally stepping over him and continuing her run.
Hunter complained to the second assistant director after Goth nearly stepped on him during the fourth take. However, on the next take, according to the lawsuit, Goth purposefully kicked him in the head with her boot. After the scene, Goth allegedly taunted and mocked Hunter in the bathroom, daring him to retaliate.
Hunter experienced head pain, exacerbated by the dried fake blood on his robe. He felt lightheaded during his drive home, having to pull over twice. The following day, the casting agency informed him that he was not required to return for the remaining two days of filming.
The lawsuit accuses Goth of battery and includes a wrongful termination claim against A24, Mia Goth, and Ti West.
