Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 8 Introduces 12 New Subclasses, Exciting Builds Revealed
LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Baldur's Gate 3 players are in for a treat as Patch 8 introduces 12 new subclasses, sparking excitement among fans and prompting creative character builds. The update, currently in stress testing, brings fresh gameplay mechanics and opportunities for strategic experimentation.
One standout build is the Arcane Archer, a Fighter subclass that combines enchanted arrows with War Cleric abilities. Key features include Seeking Arrow for guaranteed advantage, Grasping Arrow for crowd control, and Piercing Arrow for area-of-effect damage. Early reports suggest these arrows may not benefit from the Sharpshooter feat, but players remain optimistic about their potential.
Another intriguing option is the Giant Barbarian, a throw-focused build that leverages the Elemental Cleaver ability. This subclass allows players to turn any weapon into a throwing weapon, potentially stacking with the Tavern Brawler feat for massive damage. The build also includes the Mighty Impel ability for extended melee reach and Sparta-style kicks.
For spellcasting enthusiasts, the Sorcadin build combines Paladin smites with Sorcerer spellcasting. The addition of Booming Blade cantrips and Quicken Spell metamagic allows for multiple attacks and smites per round. The Hexblade subclass further enhances this build by enabling Charisma-based attacks.
Swashbuckler Rogues also receive attention, with their unique ability to use Sneak Attack without advantage. A single-level Hexblade dip adds Charisma-based damage and access to Booming Blade, making this build both versatile and powerful.
Among the new subclasses, the Circle of Stars Druid stands out for its celestial aesthetic and unique Starry Forms. Players can choose between the Archer, Chalice, and Dragon constellations, each offering distinct combat and support capabilities. The Dragon constellation, in particular, has captured players’ imaginations with its radiant damage and Constitution saving throw bonuses.
As Patch 8 continues testing, players eagerly await its full release and the opportunity to explore these new subclasses in depth. With such diverse options, Baldur’s Gate 3 continues to offer fresh experiences for both new and veteran players alike.
