Balmain Junior Hooker Jared Haywood Selected for Australian Schoolboys Team

Balmain‘s young hooker, Jared Haywood, from the Wests Tigers Pathways system, has been chosen for the 2024 Australian Schoolboys team following an impressive performance in the NSW Combined Catholic Colleges squad.

Competing in the ASSRL U18 Nationals Final, Haywood showcased his skills off the bench, contributing to a dominant 40-12 victory over NSW Combined High Schools.

The 18-year-old recently completed his first season in the SG Ball Cup with Balmain and has been training with the Jersey Flegg Cup (U/21s) team at Wests Tigers.

Haywood is expected to make his debut at the Jersey Flegg Cup level in the upcoming weeks, highlighting his rapid progression through the ranks.

The 2024 Australian Under 18 Schoolboys Team features top talents such as Jack Attard, Luke Tuialii, Nikora Williams, Sam Stephenson, and Mason Barber.

With players like Mitchell Woods, Toby Rodwell, and Alex Challenor also in the mix, the Australian Schoolboys squad is filled with promising young athletes ready to make their mark.
