Barcelona Celebrates Spanish Super Cup Win with Costume Party
BARCELONA, Spain — FC Barcelona players celebrated their Spanish Super Cup victory with a lively costume party this week, marking their first trophy of the 2025 season. The event, held on Wednesday, also doubled as a birthday celebration for midfielder Raphinha, who turned 28.
The team triumphed 5-2 against Real Madrid in the final on Sunday, securing the title in Saudi Arabia. Three days later, the Estadi Olimpic hosted a ceremony where Ronald Araujo, surrounded by the starting XI, lifted the trophy in front of fans. The club mascot, CAT, was also present to join the festivities.
Real Betis, Barcelona’s upcoming Copa del Rey opponent, honored the blaugrana players with a guard of honor before the match. The game was preceded by a moment of silence in memory of Hugo Sotil, the former Barça star who passed away on December 30 at the age of 75. Sotil, affectionately known as “Cholo,” was celebrated as one of South America’s finest players during his time with the club in the 1970s.
Off the field, the squad hosted a costume party to commemorate their success. Raphinha, dressed as Batman, was joined by his wife and daughter in matching outfits. Ronald Araujo, who recently reversed his decision to leave the club, attended as a policeman, while Ansu Fati, potentially in his final weeks with the team, dressed as a member of the Jackson 5.
Barcelona has started 2025 on a high note, with the team aiming to maintain their momentum as they pursue multiple trophies this season. The celebrations reflect the squad’s unity and confidence as they look ahead to upcoming challenges.
