FC Barcelona Ends Barça Academies Operations in India by 2024

FC Barcelona, the renowned football club, has announced that its popular Barça Academies in India will cease operations by July 1, 2024. This decision marks the end of a long-standing presence in India that began in 2010, where thousands of young football enthusiasts have been nurtured in the Barça style and ethos.

The affected regions in India include major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, and Pune, where the Barça Academies have played a vital role in promoting the sport and instilling the club’s values among aspiring players.

The Club expressed gratitude towards the families who have been part of this journey, showing unwavering support and belief in the project over the years. Additionally, FC Barcelona acknowledged the dedication and hard work of the coaches, staff, and the partnership with Conscient Football, a unit of Conscient Sports, in driving the success of the Barça Academies in India.

The decision to discontinue operations in India comes after the successful editions of the Barça Academy APAC tournaments held in 2019 and 2020, adding to the sporting legacy created in the region. Notably, the Barça Academies from India have been consistent participants in the prestigious Barça Academy World Cup, an event held in Barcelona during Easter Week that gathers talent from around the world.
