Barcelona and Real Madrid to Clash in 2025 Spanish Super Cup Final
Barcelona and Real Madrid will face off in the 2025 Spanish Super Cup final on Sunday, January 12, at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The two Spanish football giants secured their spots in the final after defeating Athletic Bilbao and Mallorca, respectively, in the semifinals.
Barcelona triumphed over Athletic Bilbao with a 2-0 victory, thanks to goals from Gavi and Lamine Yamal. A day later, Real Madrid dominated Mallorca with a 3-0 win, setting the stage for another high-stakes Clásico. This will be the second official Clásico of the season, following Barcelona’s 4-0 victory over Real Madrid earlier in the campaign.
The Spanish Super Cup, which began in 1982, underwent a format change in 2020, transitioning from a single match between the league and cup winners to a ‘Final Four’ tournament. This year’s competition marks the fifth edition under the new format, with the final being held in Saudi Arabia for the third consecutive time.
Last year, Real Madrid claimed the title with a 4-1 victory over Barcelona, highlighted by a hat-trick from Vinícius Jr. and a goal from Rodrygo. A win for Real Madrid this year would tie them with Barcelona as the most successful team in the tournament’s history, with both clubs currently holding 14 and 13 titles, respectively.
The final will kick off at 8:00 PM local time and will be broadcast live on Movistar+, which holds the exclusive rights to the competition. Fans can also follow the match through Orange TV and online streaming platforms.
