Barkley Doubts Curry’s Big Game 7 Performance Against Rockets

HOUSTON, Texas — Charles Barkley believes Stephen Curry will not deliver a high-scoring performance in Game 7 for the Golden State Warriors against the Houston Rockets on Sunday. Barkley stated that he doubts Curry, due to age and fatigue, is capable of reaching 50 points in the crucial playoff game.
“I don’t think he’s capable of getting 50,” Barkley said during a segment on NBA on TNT.
In 2023, Curry was in a similar position, leading his team against the Sacramento Kings in a decisive Game 7, where he scored 50 points. Critics were also skeptical before that game, raising questions about his performance. Yet, amid all doubts, he thrived, shutting down concerns from the Kings’ fanbase.
The circumstances have changed for Curry, however. This year, he has the presence of teammate Jimmy Butler, who has proven he can take over games. This could potentially lessen the scoring load on Curry, allowing him to conserve energy to focus on winning.
Curry intends to help his team however he can. Whether he scores or assists in creating open shots for teammates, he’s committed to victory. So far in the series, the Rockets have struggled to contain him, though Game 5 saw Curry limited in scoring and hindered by a minus-19 rating in the box score.
Despite this, he consistently shows the ability to lead the Warriors, even when opponents anticipate his moves. Barkley’s comments might serve as motivation for Curry, potentially igniting his competitive spirit heading into Game 7. If Curry finds his momentum, the Rockets could face a serious challenge as they prepare for the showdown.
