Bears Fans Debate Caleb Williams vs. Jayden Daniels in Sun-Times Poll
CHICAGO, Ill. — As the Chicago Bears‘ season comes to a close, fans are already debating the future of rookie quarterback Caleb Williams. In this week’s “Polling Place” survey by the Chicago Sun-Times, fans weighed in on whether they would prefer Williams or another standout from the 2024 NFL draft class, Jayden Daniels, to lead the team for the next decade.
Williams, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, had a mixed rookie season, showing flashes of brilliance while also enduring significant growing pains. Despite his struggles, many Bears fans remain loyal. “I see I’m not the only Bears fan with obvious bias toward Caleb here,” wrote @MawDouglas on X, formerly known as Twitter.
However, not everyone is convinced. “Jayden Daniels is better than Williams,” commented @63champs, referencing Daniels’ impressive rookie campaign with the Washington Commanders. Daniels led his team to the divisional round of the playoffs and is a frontrunner for the Offensive Rookie of the Year award.
The Sun-Times also polled fans on the expanded College Football Playoff format, which now includes 12 teams. “Just need some more competitive games,” said @RonaldVoigt4, reflecting a sentiment shared by many who believe the new format has revitalized interest in college football’s postseason.
Finally, fans were asked to predict the outcome of the college football championship game between Ohio State and Notre Dame. While Ohio State is favored, some believe Notre Dame could pull off an upset. “OSU wins, unfortunately,” wrote @DonDizzz, while @tom_horseplayer added, “I hate both teams — ND a lot more.”
The Bears’ front office has reportedly considered trading Williams if the right opportunity arises, but his $90 million contract extension signed last summer complicates any potential deal. Meanwhile, the debate over Williams’ future continues to divide fans and analysts alike.
