Chicago Bears Nfl Free Agency Signings 2025

CHICAGO, Ill. — The Chicago Bears made headlines Thursday by securing veteran wide receiver Miles Boykin and defensive back Davon Wade on one-year contracts as part of their strategic preparations for the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft.

Boykin, a third-round draft pick by the Baltimore Ravens in 2019, brings a mix of experience and potential to the Bears’ offense. The Tinley Park, Illinois, native has appeared in 73 games, including 25 starts, during his time in the NFL, totaling 38 receptions for 498 yards and seven touchdowns. Last season, Boykin spent time on practice squads for the New York Giants and Seattle Seahawks after previous stints with the Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers.

“I’m excited for this opportunity with the Bears,” said Boykin. “Being from the area, it’s like a homecoming for me. I’m ready to contribute to the team and show what I can do on the field.”

Wade joins the Bears after an entire 2024 season spent on the Los Angeles Chargers’ practice squad. Drafted in the fifth round (160th overall) in the 2021 NFL Draft, Wade has seen action in 20 games, including six starts with the New England Patriots. He is known for his versatility and skill set, making him a valuable addition to the defensive secondary.

“Having a player like Davon, who brings depth and experience to our defense, is crucial as we move forward,” said Bears General Manager Ryan Poles. “He’s someone we feel can make a significant impact.”

As the Bears gear up for the NFL Draft, Poles noted the importance of scouting as teams finalize their draft boards. “We’re in a unique position with four picks in the top 75,” Poles said. “We can look for the best available players and build a strong roster for the future.”

Coach Ben Johnson expressed optimism about the upcoming draft. “With our recent signings, we feel good about what we can achieve,” he said. “Finding the right players in this draft will be pivotal in addressing our depth concerns.”

The Bears hold the 10th, 39th, 41st, and 72nd picks in the draft, creating a crucial moment for the franchise to shape its future. With the recent signings, the organization is a blend of experience and youth, ready to tackle the challenges ahead as they prepare for the new season.
