Doha, QatarBelal Muhammad is set to make his much-anticipated return to the Octagon at UFC Qatar on November 22, 2025. The former welterweight champion is looking to reclaim his place among the elite in the division when he faces Irish standout Ian Machado Garry in the co-main event at ABHA Arena.

Following a disappointing defeat in his previous title defense against Garry, Muhammad is eager to silence his critics and prove he is still a top contender. Speaking to the UFC Digital team earlier this week, he expressed his excitement about performing in Qatar, saying, “To be able to fight in front of the crowd here is gonna be amazing.” He noted the enthusiastic response from fans and drew motivation from his previous fights in the Middle East.

Last weekend’s UFC 322 showcased several fierce competitors in the welterweight division, notably Michael Morales and Carlos Prates, who both delivered standout performances. Muhammad aims to outshine them by finishing Garry on Saturday night. “I want to remind the world who I am,” he added. “There’s a tier of who did the best last weekend, and I think Morales is at the top right now, so I’ve gotta out-shine him.”

As the bout approaches, Muhammad is not only prepared for Garry’s skill set but is also focused on overcoming the formidable Kazakh contender Shavkat Rakhmonov, who has been a topic of discussion in the title hunt. “If I finish Ian, I put a stamp on it,” he stated. “That’s how I remind everyone of my abilities.”

With a fighting style that has earned him multiple post-fight bonuses, Muhammad’s experience in the Octagon could play a crucial role against Garry, a fighter known for his flashy demeanor and striking abilities. “It fuels me more,” he noted about his opponent’s bravado. “I’d rather fight somebody that’s gonna talk than someone who’s quiet.”

During his career, Muhammad has thrived in high-pressure situations and has a history of succeeding in the Middle East, including two finishes against Top 10 talent. The added weight of returning from a loss creates a sense of urgency for Muhammad, pushing him to perform with even greater intensity.

As fight day nears, the stakes are high for both fighters. For Muhammad, a victory could solidify his return to championship conversations. He’s on track to bring home a definite statement win, aiming to leave an impression that echoes through the division and beyond as he chases regaining his title.

UFC Qatar’s preliminary fights will begin at 10 am ET followed by the main card at 1 pm ET.
