Benson Kipruto And Sutume Kebede Win Tokyo Marathon In Record Time

Benson Kipruto and Sutume Kebede achieved remarkable victories at the Tokyo Marathon 2024, setting new records in the men’s and women’s elite races on Sunday.

In a stunning display of athleticism, Benson Kipruto crossed the finish line in a record-breaking time of 2:02:16, securing the top position in the men’s category. Following closely behind was Timothy Kiplagat with an impressive time of 2:02:55, while Vincent Kipkemoi claimed the third spot with a time of 2:04:18.

On the women’s side, Sutume Kebede showcased her exceptional strength and endurance, clocking in at 2:15:55 to clinch the first position. Rosemary Wanjiru and Amane Beriso followed closely behind, finishing with times of 2:16:14 and 2:16:58, respectively.

Other notable performances in the men’s category included Hailemaryam Kiros, Tsegaye Getachew, Bethwel Kibet, and Eliud Kipchoge, who all demonstrated exemplary running prowess.

Meanwhile, the women’s race saw impressive runs from athletes like Sifan Hassan, Betsy Saina, and Hitomi Niiya, further elevating the competition’s intensity and excitement.

As the Tokyo Marathon unfolded, spectators were treated to a display of sheer determination and skill from Meseret Abebayahau, Khishigsakihan Galbadrakh, Tigist Abayechew, and Ayumi Morita, who all put on inspiring performances.
