Bernarda Pera, the 29-year-old American tennis player, is set to face Alexandra Eala of the Philippines in the Round of 32 at the WTA Guangzhou, China Women Singles 2024 on Tuesday, October 22. This match marks the first encounter between the two players in a main tour event.

Pera, currently ranked No. 79 in the world, has had a mixed season with notable performances. She recently qualified for the main draw in several tournaments, including a three-set victory over Irina-Camelia Begu in Wuhan and a first-round win over Tamara Korpatsch in Budapest.

Eala, ranked No. 147, is a 19-year-old rising star from the Philippines. Despite her lower ranking, Eala has shown promising form, particularly in lower-tier tournaments. However, she faces a tougher challenge against the more experienced Pera.

The match is scheduled to take place at the Guangzhou Nansha International Tennis Center on hard courts. Pera is favored to win, with odds of -155 compared to Eala’s +120. Predictions suggest that Pera is likely to win the match, possibly in three sets.

Pera’s career highlights include winning her first two WTA singles titles in 2022 at Budapest and Hamburg, and reaching the semifinals at the WTA 125K Series event in Concord. She has also had significant success on the ITF Circuit, winning nine singles titles and breaking into the Top 50 in doubles by the end of 2021.
