Bianca Belair Praises WWE’s New Women’s Championships, Eyes Future Opportunities
ORLANDO, Fla. — WWE superstar Bianca Belair has voiced her support for the company’s recent introduction of secondary championships for its women’s division, calling the move a game-changer for talent and morale. The new titles, the WWE Women's United States Championship on SmackDown and the WWE Women's Intercontinental Championship on Raw, were unveiled earlier this year to expand opportunities for female wrestlers.
In an interview with Battle, Belair emphasized the depth of WWE’s women’s roster and the positive impact of the new titles. “I see it affecting the women’s division in such a positive way,” she said. “Right now, our roster is the best it’s ever been. It’s the most stacked it’s ever been. People say, ‘What do women need to do to get more opportunities?’ We don’t need to do anything, we just need more opportunities because every time we step in, we step up and we show out when we get those opportunities.”
Belair, a former Raw Women’s Champion, highlighted how the new titles provide a platform for emerging talent. “Adding these two new titles, it gives so much more room and opportunity for women to showcase themselves, and that’s all we want to do,” she said. “We don’t want these opportunities just because we’re women. We want them because we can sell tickets, we can put up numbers, and we can put on five-star matches.”
The EST of WWE also hinted at her own aspirations to compete for the new championships. “I’ve been able to accomplish a lot in a very short amount of time, and I’ve been able to hold a lot of titles,” she said. “Those two new titles, they’re very shiny and pretty, and those women that are holding those titles are amazing women. So, anyone that could take those titles from those women that hold those titles right now, that’s a huge accomplishment.”
Belair’s comments come as WWE continues to expand its women’s division, with stars like Raquel Rodriguez and Lyra Valkyria also sharing their thoughts on the new titles. Valkyria, who became the first-ever WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion, has been a standout performer since the title’s introduction.
In addition to discussing the women’s division, Belair also shared her thoughts on her husband, Montez Ford of The Street Profits, potentially pursuing a singles run. “He doesn’t really like to talk about it a lot cause he likes to play things cool, but when we do talk about it, I’m also hyping my husband up,” she said. “I tell him all the time, his time is coming. He has so much potential, and the only thing holding him back is just the opportunity.”
Belair emphasized that Ford’s success would be a matter of timing and opportunity. “Delayed is not the same thing as denied,” she said. “Once the opportunity comes, he’s going to hit the ground, he’s going to take off.”
As WWE continues to evolve its programming, the introduction of new championships and the potential for fresh rivalries signal an exciting future for both the women’s division and rising stars like Montez Ford.
