BUFFALO, N.Y. — Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane addressed criticism about the team’s lack of investment in the wide receiver position during a radio appearance Monday morning.

Beane’s comments came shortly after the 2025 NFL Draft, where the Bills focused on strengthening their defense, leaving some fans and analysts questioning the decision. “You guys were complaining in 2018 about not having receivers, and now you’re complaining again,” Beane said during his interview.

The general manager emphasized that the Bills scored the most points in the league last season. “We just scored 30 points in a row for eight straight games,” he said. “No one scored more points than the Buffalo Bills, including the Super Bowl champions.”

Despite the impressive offensive statistics, discussions about the need for wide receiver improvements persisted. Beane highlighted that protecting quarterback Josh Allen is the team’s priority, stating, “You can’t have Pro Bowl wide receivers and also a Pro Bowl offensive line.”

The Bills did sign a few wide receivers, including Josh Palmer from the Los Angeles Chargers and Laviska Shenault during free agency, and drafted Kaden Prather in the seventh round. However, they had not made significant investments at the position this offseason.

Beane defended the team’s decisions, explaining they followed their draft board and prioritized defensive needs. “If the best player was a receiver, we would have taken him,” he asserted.

On Monday, Beane confirmed the team hosted Elijah Moore, a free agent receiver. However, he noted that no signing was imminent at that time.

“Our job is to score points and win games, not to play fantasy football,” Beane concluded. His strong remarks reflect his determination to build a competitive team, focusing on overall success rather than specific positions.
