Bills Consider Jaire Alexander Trade for Cornerback Help

Buffalo, NY – The Buffalo Bills face a pressing concern in their cornerback lineup as they prepare for competition in the AFC. After Rasul Douglas, who started all 15 games last season, was signed away from the team, the Bills have turned to Tre'Davious White and Dane Jackson as their starting options alongside Christian Benford.
White has struggled with injuries, and Jackson has not demonstrated the ability to perform at a starter’s level. As a result, many expect the Bills to target a cornerback in the upcoming draft. However, an alternative proposal suggests acquiring a veteran cornerback for immediate impact.
According to a report by an NFL analyst, the Bills might explore a trade with the Green Bay Packers for cornerback Jaire Alexander. The proposal would see Buffalo sending two draft picks to Green Bay in exchange for Alexander, a player regarded as one of the best cornerbacks in the league when healthy.
“Though Buffalo recently brought back Tre’Davious White, it could use additional cornerback help,” the analyst wrote. “Alexander could provide it and give the Packers a couple of high Day 3 draft selections.”
Alexander’s skill set could significantly bolster the Bills’ defense, especially as they aim for a Super Bowl run. However, his injury history raises concerns about his availability. Packers General Manager Brian Gutekunst acknowledged the team’s investment in Alexander and emphasized the need for a return if he is not contributing to the team’s success.
Despite speculation around the trade, some analysts believe the Packers might not secure two fourth-round picks for Alexander, especially given his $84 million contract. They suggest that the Bills could potentially acquire him for a single fourth-round pick, contingent on the Packers assuming a portion of his salary.
The Bills face significant financial constraints and may not afford Alexander’s current contract. Even with the Packers covering part of it, the likelihood of Buffalo making this trade seems slim.
Should the opportunity arise, the Bills would be wise to pursue the deal, as Alexander could enhance their competitive edge. However, due to their financial limitations, it remains uncertain whether this trade will materialize.
