Bills Select Kaden Prather in NFL Draft’s Final Round

GREEN BAY, Wis. — The Buffalo Bills selected wide receiver Kaden Prather from the Maryland Terrapins in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft on April 26, using the No. 240 overall pick, which they acquired through a trade with the Chicago Bears.
Prather, standing at 6 feet 5 inches tall and boasting a speed of 4.46 seconds in the 40-yard dash, was projected by NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein to be a priority free agent. However, he was picked on draft night. The Bills, after addressing various needs earlier in the draft, chose to fill their wide receiver position with this final selection.
“Kaden has the size and speed to make an impact,” said a Bills’ representative. “He offers us a chance to stretch the field with his height and reach.” Prather’s performance at Maryland included 56 catches for 624 yards and four touchdowns this past season, contributing to a career total of 162 receptions, 1,966 yards, and 12 touchdowns over his collegiate career at both West Virginia and Maryland.
Despite his potential, analysts noted some areas for improvement. “Prather may need to refine his route running and catching in traffic to make a solid impact,” said an unnamed scout. “He can be a niche option as a field-stretcher, but he’ll need to prove himself, especially on special teams, to secure a spot on the roster.”
Moving forward, Prather will be competing for a position on the Bills’ 53-man roster during the upcoming summer training camp. Analysts suggest he is more likely to begin his NFL career on the practice squad as he develops his skills.
