BUFFALO, NY — In a significant move for their offense, the Buffalo Bills have agreed to a two-year deal with free-agent running back Ty Johnson, bringing him back to Orchard Park, the team confirmed on Monday.

Johnson’s return comes after a strong performance in the 2024 season, during which he amassed 625 total yards and scored five touchdowns across both regular season and postseason games. His versatility has made him a vital asset to the Bills’ backfield, particularly in the passing game.

“Ty Johnson gave this offense such a boost out of the backfield. I really like that he’s coming back,” said sports commentator Dom Tibbetts.

Fans can recall Johnson’s 41-yard touchdown catch against the Los Angeles Rams earlier this season, a highlight that showcased his potential as a game-changing player. His ability to contribute alongside fellow running backs James Cook and Ray Davis positioned the Bills’ running back room as one of the most productive groups in the NFL.

Tibbetts notes, “Absolutely the right move here by Brandon Beane to bring Ty Johnson back. A nice two-year deal rewards him for a productive 2024 season and also brings back a trusted playmaker for Josh Allen.”

With Johnson secured through 2026, the deal may influence upcoming negotiations concerning Cook, who is slated to enter free agency next season. Having depth in the backfield could provide the Bills with flexibility as they consider their options moving forward.

Additionally, Priority Sports, the agency representing Darrynton Evans, announced that the Bills and Evans have made a similar agreement, adding another familiar face to the roster.
