Billy Don Burns Hospital Incident

Colton, California – Country music legend Billy Don Burns, 76, is recovering after a disturbing incident in Los Angeles that involved mixing whiskey and cocaine, leading him to stab himself multiple times with a pocket knife.

Burns shared his harrowing story from Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, where he is receiving treatment for his injuries. According to Burns, the chaotic chain of events started when he flew to Los Angeles to retrieve his car, arriving at Ontario International Airport.

After leaving a friend’s house with cocaine and whiskey, Burns drove impaired only 10 miles before crashing over a large concrete object, totaling his vehicle. Stuck in an unfamiliar area without a phone, he walked to a nearby liquor store, only to have his phone stolen.

Feeling isolated and desperate, Burns made the dangerous choice to inject the drugs he had with whiskey instead of water. He described the experience as being “out of his head,” which led to thoughts of self-harm.

Burns initially stabbed himself three times, later realizing there were actually four or five wounds. One injury was severe enough to cause him to bleed more than a pint of blood. Witnesses called 911, and emergency responders rushed him to the hospital.

Upon arriving at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, medical staff assessed his injuries and mental state. The hospital specializes in cardiac care and closely monitors patients in a secure unit.

In a recent social media post, Burns, visible in his hospital bed, expressed gratitude for being alive. His openness regarding the incident has sparked conversations about the dangers of combining drugs and alcohol, as well as the importance of addressing mental health issues.

Burns has had a turbulent yet legendary career, known for his contributions to the outlaw country music genre. He remains in the recovery process, with many in the country music community rallying to support him during this challenging time.

His brave admission of this dark chapter in his life may serve as a cautionary tale for others facing similar struggles.
