Billy Harris Makes History At Cinch Championships 2024 With First Atp 500 Quarter Final Appearance

Billy Harris has achieved a significant career milestone by securing his inaugural ATP 500 quarter-final berth at the prestigious cinch Championships. Harris triumphed over qualifier Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard with a solid performance, winning 6-4, 7-5 in just over an hour.

Harris, displaying remarkable form on the grass this season, has previously reached the semi-finals at both the Surbiton Trophy and Stuttgart Open. His remarkable journey continued as he advanced to the quarter-finals at the Queen's Club for the first time.

The victory for Harris comes on the heels of him being granted a wild card entry to Wimbledon, marking his first appearance in the prestigious Grand Slam event.

Reflecting on his win against Mpetshi Perricard, Harris stated, ‘It was a massive boost for my confidence. I knew it would be challenging, especially against his strong serve. I had to maintain my focus throughout the match, capitalize on crucial moments, and I believe I executed well.’

The triumph at Queen’s Club now sets up an exciting quarter-final showdown, with two British talents, Harris and Jack Draper, both competing at the tournament.

Harris entered the match with high spirits following his notable victory against world No.32 Tomas Martin Etcheverry in the opening round. He continued his fine form, dominating behind his own serve and not facing a single break point throughout the match.

Securing the win with efficient breaks of serve in each set, Harris controlled the match tactically to secure his ATP 500 quarter-final spot. His upcoming opponent will be determined from the match between America‘s Brandon Nakashima and Lorenzo Musetti of France.
