Birmingham City has reportedly agreed on personal terms with Fulham striker Jay Stansfield as they aim to complete a record-breaking transfer deal. The negotiations come as Birmingham City has already set the League One incoming transfer record twice in the current window.

Stansfield, who is 21 years old, became a fan favorite during his loan spell at Birmingham City last season. He made an impressive mark by scoring 13 goals in 37 appearances, earning the club’s player of the season award.

According to sources, the deal for Stansfield will eclipse the previous record fees paid for Christoph Klarer and Willum Thor Willumsson, both of whom were signed for approximately £3.5 million.

Recently, Stansfield showcased his skills by scoring in a Carabao Cup match against Birmingham, reinforcing the club’s interest in making his stay permanent. Fans showed their appreciation by clapping him off the pitch when he was substituted.

Discussions about the transfer are currently focused on the payment structure. Additionally, it has been reported that the deal could face delays as Fulham is also looking for a replacement for Stansfield.

Birmingham City manager expressed respect towards Fulham’s position but acknowledged Stansfield’s value and capabilities from his previous season with the club.
