Blaze Engulfs The Osborne View Pub in Hampshire

A fire erupted in the roof of The Osborne View pub located on Hill Head Road in Fareham, Hampshire, sparking a large-scale emergency response from the Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service (HFRS) around 02:30 GMT.

Ten fire crews worked tirelessly through the night to contain the blaze, with additional relief crews utilizing aerial ladders to target hotspots within the structure.

Authorities have closed off surrounding roads and advised residents in the vicinity to keep their doors and windows shut as a precaution against the billowing smoke.

HFRS deployed six fire engines, an aerial ladder, and multiple jets to address lingering hotspots, while also dispatching specialized vehicles including water carriers and an environmental protection unit to the scene.

Incident commander Jim Clarke expressed the likelihood of an extended emergency service presence throughout the day, noting the “significant” damage sustained by the building, which stands as a pivotal hub within the community.

Managing director Matt Kearsey of Hall & Woodhouse, the pub’s owners, affirmed that all staff members were safely evacuated from the premises, emphasizing the foremost concern for the well-being of those affected and pledging comprehensive support and reassurance.

Kearsey extended profound gratitude to the rapid response and courageous efforts of Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service for their role in managing the situation swiftly.
