Blues Extend Win Streak to Ten with Overtime Victory

ST. LOUIS, Mo. — The St. Louis Blues extended their win streak to ten games with a thrilling 2-1 overtime victory against the Detroit Red Wings on April 1, 2025, at Enterprise Center. The win not only marked their tenth consecutive victory but also their ninth straight home win, tying a franchise record.
Despite dominating the game with 37 shots on goal, St. Louis struggled against Red Wings goaltender Cam Talbot. However, forward Jordan Kyrou produced a late-game heroics, scoring the equalizer with just 29 seconds remaining in regulation. Cam Fowler completed the comeback with an overtime goal just 3:27 into the extra period.
“We’ve kept faith for a long time now knowing that we can win hockey games no matter how much time is left,” Fowler said postgame. “Our guys just stuck with it. Everybody made some big-time plays that helped us win, so it’s fun to be able to keep this thing rolling.”
The current ten-game streak is the second-longest in franchise history, with St. Louis being the second NHL team this season to achieve a win streak of ten or more games, only trailing the Winnipeg Jets, who had an eleven-game winning streak.
Looking ahead, the Blues will face the Pittsburgh Penguins, the team that handed them their last defeat, a 5-3 loss on March 13 in Pittsburgh. Currently, St. Louis is vying for a playoff position, tied with Minnesota for the two Western Conference Wild Card spots, although the Wild retain the top slot due to a higher number of regulation wins.
Meanwhile, the Penguins (30-34-11) are recovering from a tough stretch. They recently secured a 1-0 overtime victory over the Ottawa Senators, ending a three-game losing streak. Captain Sidney Crosby scored the game-winning goal in overtime, extending his personal point streak to ten games (eight goals, seven assists). Goaltender Tristan Jarry recorded his first shutout of the season, making 31 saves.
“We needed that win to get back on track,” Crosby noted after the game. “Every point matters at this stage of the season.”
As the Penguins prepare for their upcoming matchup against the Blues, they are still facing challenges, especially on the road. Pittsburgh has lost three consecutive away games, posting a 0-2-1 record during their last road trip and has been outscored 17-7 in those contests. This season, they hold an 11-20-6 record on the road compared to a much healthier 19-14-5 at home.
The Penguins, currently tied for seventh in the Metropolitan Division with 71 points in 75 games, will aim to shift their fortunes as they embark on a midwest road trip. Starting with the Blues, they will also face the Dallas Stars and Chicago Blackhawks in quick succession.
