MILWAUKEE, Wis. — Bobby Portis made a triumphant return to the Milwaukee Bucks on April 8, 2025, leading the team to a thrilling 110-103 comeback victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Portis, who had faced a suspension prior to the game, displayed remarkable poise during a heated moment on the court that almost escalated into chaos. With the game tied late in the fourth quarter, tempers flared when Bucks guard Kevin Porter Jr. clashed with Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert.

“Bobby runs over to me and says, ‘Coach, we gotta calm Scoot down,’” Bucks head coach Doc Rivers said after the game. “When I heard that, I knew we were in a good place.”

Contrary to Rivers’ pre-game joking that Portis would likely foul out in minutes, the veteran forward showcased a methodical approach. He finished the game with 18 points, hitting 7 of 15 shots, including 2 of 6 from three-point range, and secured 10 rebounds.

“Over the last 47 days, I just tried to stay ready,” Portis said. His energy on both ends of the court was a significant boost for the Bucks, who had been lacking in intensity without him.

Facing a daunting 24-point deficit with 10 minutes remaining, superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo re-entered the game to rally the team. Alongside Portis and guard Kevin Porter Jr., the Bucks executed a stunning turnaround, outscoring the Timberwolves 34-3 in the final stretch.

The comeback began with a pivotal three-pointer from A.J. Green, which tied the game with just 3:35 left. Shortly after, Gobert and Porter Jr. got into a scuffle, sparking tensions among players and fans alike.

However, Portis, known for his intense play style, effectively diffused the situation by restraining Gobert while Antetokounmpo calmed the visibly upset Porter Jr. Following that moment, Porter Jr. emerged as a hero, contributing four crucial steals that led to easy transition buckets for the Bucks.

In a dominating finish, the Bucks won the fourth quarter 40-13, as Portis and his bench companions — Green, Porter Jr., and Gary Trent Jr. — collectively finished the period with a astounding +27 rating.

Remarkably, in nearly 29 minutes on the court, Portis committed only two fouls, demonstrating his discipline during a crucial game.

The Bucks will aim to extend their five-game winning streak in their upcoming home game against the New Orleans Pelicans on Thursday night.
