Body Found In Thames Believed To Be Suspect In Chemical Attack Case

A body discovered in the River Thames by the Metropolitan Police during a search for the suspect in a chemical attack case, Abdul Shokoor Ezedi, is believed to be that of the wanted individual. Ezedi, 35, had been sought after a woman and her two daughters were assaulted in Clapham on January 31st.

The police located the body near Tower Pier in central London, close to Tower Bridge. Although formal identification is pending, the distinctive attire on the body matched what Ezedi was wearing during the attack. Commander Jon Savell stated that visual ID has not been possible and further testing is required for confirmation.

Efforts to locate Ezedi began after the assault, where a woman was critically injured. Despite being in stable condition now, she remains hospitalized in the aftermath of the incident that transpired in Clapham. Her two daughters, aged eight and three, have since been discharged.

Ezedi, suspected of pouring a harmful substance on his ex-partner and her children, had his last known sighting on CCTV leaning over Chelsea Bridge before disappearing out of sight. The police investigation indicated a strong likelihood that Ezedi had been in a relationship with the victims and planned to meet them in London before the attack.

The manhunt for Ezedi intensified as his car was traced from Newcastle to various locations in London. Following the developing leads, the body was found at Tower Pier, about four miles from the last visual on Ezedi. The recovery came after extensive public assistance and a £20,000 reward for information.

Commander Savell expressed gratitude for the community’s support in the search for Ezedi and reiterated the ongoing investigation into the assault. The woman’s friends, raising funds for her family, shared her determination to recover and reunite with her children.
