Introduction

Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a Nigerian politician who is currently the President of Nigeria. He was the Governor of Lagos State from 1999 to 2007, and Senator for Lagos West from 1993 to 1999. Tinubu is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and is considered to be one of the most influential politicians in Nigeria.

Family

Tinubu was born on March 29, 1952, in Iragbiji, Osun State, Nigeria. His father, Chief Abibatu Mogaji, was a prominent businessman and politician. Tinubu’s mother, Chief (Mrs.) Abibatu Mogaji, was a successful trader. Tinubu is married to Oluremi Tinubu, who is a Senator representing the Lagos Central senatorial district. They have three children: Zainab Abisola Tinubu, Habibat Tinubu, and Olayinka Tinubu.

Education

Tinubu attended St. John’s Primary School, Aroloya, Lagos before proceeding to Children Home School in Ibadan. He completed undergraduate studies in the United States, first at Richard J. Daley College in Chicago and then at Chicago State University. He graduated in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting.

Career

Tinubu began his professional career as an accountant at Arthur Andersen and Deloitte Haskins & Sells. He returned to Nigeria in the early 1990s and entered politics. He was elected Senator for Lagos West in 1993 and Governor of Lagos State in 1999.

As Governor of Lagos State, Tinubu implemented a number of reforms, including a tax reform program that increased the state’s revenue. He also oversaw a number of infrastructure projects, including the construction of roads, bridges, and schools.

Tinubu left office as Governor of Lagos State in 2007. He remained active in politics and was one of the founders of the APC in 2013. He was elected President
