Bolton Wanderers Match Abandoned After Medical Emergency In Crowd

Wanderers’ home game against Cheltenham Town was abandoned after 29 minutes due to a medical emergency in the crowd. Referee Sunny Singh Gill took the decision to call off the match with the score at 0-0. The male fan in the East Stand had a suspected cardiac arrest, and medical staff and paramedics attended to him. Both teams were taken off the pitch as attempts were made to revive the patient.

The supporter was then taken to the first-aid room, and the match was abandoned. The condition of the fan is currently critical, and our thoughts are with him and his family. Updates on his condition will be provided later. Information about a new date for the fixture and ticket refunds will also be announced in due course.

Cheltenham Town also expressed their concern for the individual involved and their loved ones. The fixture was abandoned due to the medical emergency, and further updates will be provided. CPR was administered to the supporter for over 20 minutes before he was transferred to an ambulance on the south-east corner of the stadium.

Off-duty firemen, an off-duty surgeon, and a retired paramedic were among the first responders on the scene. The incident occurred in the East Stand of the Toughsheet Community Stadium.
