Tyler Pitlick Boston Bruins Forward Contract Signing

BOSTON – The Boston Bruins have officially signed forward Tyler Pitlick to a one-year, two-way contract that runs through the 2024-25 NHL season. General Manager Don Sweeney announced the signing on March 6, confirming Pitlick’s NHL cap hit at $775,000.

Pitlick, 33, has had a productive season with the Providence Bruins in the American Hockey League (AHL), where he recorded 16 goals and 17 assists for 33 total points in 43 games. His performance has placed him among the top Providence scorers, ranking third in goals and fourth in points.

“We’re excited to bring Tyler back to the NHL,” Sweeney stated. “His experience and performance in the AHL this season have shown that he is ready to contribute at the next level.”

The 6-foot-2, 201-pound forward has amassed significant experience throughout his career. He has played in a total of 420 NHL games across several teams, including the New York Rangers, St. Louis Blues, Montreal Canadiens, Calgary Flames, Arizona Coyotes, Philadelphia Flyers, Dallas Stars, and Edmonton Oilers. During those games, he recorded 56 goals and 53 assists.

Pitlick was originally selected in the second round, 31st overall, by the Edmonton Oilers in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. He made his NHL debut during the 2013-14 season, playing 58 games for the Oilers before moving through various teams in the league. He last played in the NHL during the 2023-24 season with the New York Rangers, contributing one goal and three assists in 34 games.

By signing this new contract, the Bruins retain the option to recall Pitlick from the AHL, where he will continue to receive an AHL salary unless he is added to the NHL roster. The decision also prevents him from being signed by other NHL teams in the meantime.

As the March trade deadline approaches, the Bruins are solidifying their roster. Pitlick’s two-way contract further enhances their options for the rest of the season.

This season marks an important return for Pitlick as he aims to avoid finishing his first season without an NHL game since the 2015-16 season. If he plays, he would become the ninth team he has suited up for in the NHL.
