Boston Readies for Celtics NBA Championship Parade
With the City of Boston buzzing with excitement, Mayor Wu has officially declared a celebration in honor of the Celtics‘ 18th NBA Championship victory, set to culminate in a grand duck boat parade scheduled for Friday, June 21, 2024.
The parade is slated to kick off at 11 a.m. from Causeway Street, traversing through iconic routes like Staniford Street, Cambridge Street, Tremont Street, and Boylston Street, before concluding near the Hynes Convention Center.
Attendees are strongly advised to utilize public transportation services, with the MBTA offering convenient access to parade sites, as well as helpful guidance on service updates, payment methods, and more.
On the day of the parade, the MBTA will implement enhanced subway operations and adjusted Commuter Rail timetables to accommodate the influx of fans and revelers. Pre-purchasing roundtrip fares is highly recommended to streamline travel arrangements.
Within the parade route, two dedicated accessible viewing areas will be designated for optimal spectator experiences – one situated on the Cambridge Street side of City Hall Plaza and another outside the Boston Public Library along Boylston Street. No reservations are needed for access to these viewing points.
For those seeking alternative modes of transportation, Bluebikes, the regional bike share service, is a convenient and eco-friendly option, with information on pass options and station locations readily accessible.
As the celebratory gathering unfolds, parking restrictions will be in effect along the parade route and surrounding areas to ensure the seamless flow of activities and easy access for attendees.
Although the heat emergency in Boston will have elapsed by the day of the parade, emergency responders will be on standby to assist anyone experiencing heat-related discomfort. Hydration and sun protection are strongly advised for all participants.
