Bowling Green Falcons Aim for Third Straight Win Against Central Michigan Chippewas in Mid-Week MACtion
The Bowling Green Falcons are set to face the Central Michigan Chippewas on Tuesday, November 5, in a mid-week MACtion matchup. The Falcons, currently 4-4 overall and 3-1 in the MAC, are looking to extend their winning streak to three games after recent victories over Toledo and Kent State. Their last win was a dominant 41-26 victory over Toledo on October 26, marking their second consecutive win over a MAC opponent.
Central Michigan, on the other hand, is struggling with a 3-5 overall record and a 1-3 mark in the MAC. The Chippewas have lost three consecutive games, including a 46-7 blowout by Miami (OH) in their last outing. Central Michigan’s woes are compounded by injuries to their top quarterbacks, Joey Labas and Bert Emanuel Jr., with redshirt freshman Tyler Jefferson stepping in as the starter.
The game will be played at Kelly/Shorts Stadium in Mount Pleasant, Michigan, with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET. The Falcons are favored by 11.5 to 12 points, depending on the source, and the over/under for total points is set around 48.5 to 49 points.
Bowling Green’s offense, led by senior quarterback Connor Bazelak, has been strong, particularly in the passing game. Bazelak has completed 68% of his passes for 1,815 yards and 10 touchdowns this season. The Falcons’ passing attack is bolstered by junior tight end Harold Fannin Jr., who leads the MAC in receiving yards with 947 yards and six touchdowns.
Central Michigan’s defense has been vulnerable, giving up at least 27 points in each of their last three games. The Chippewas’ best offensive strength is their running game, led by senior running back Marion Lukes, who has 465 yards and four touchdowns on the season.
The historical matchup between the two teams favors the Falcons, who lead the series 24-19 and have won the last matchup in 2022. Central Michigan has not won a home game against Bowling Green since 2006.
