Brandin Cooks Leaves Saints: Future Destination Uncertain
New Orleans, LA — Brandin Cooks has exited the New Orleans Saints for the second time, raising questions about his next move. The wide receiver’s departure comes with speculation that he aims to join one of several teams, including the Denver Broncos, Los Angeles Rams, or Buffalo Bills.
Chris Tomasson of the Denver Gazette reports that the Broncos have no plans to sign Cooks. This decision eliminates them from the list of potential destinations for the 30-year-old receiver. Cooks, who was first drafted by the Saints in 2014 under then-coach Sean Payton, spent three seasons with the team before being traded to the New England Patriots.
The Broncos, currently holding a record of 9-2, were seen as a strong possibility due to the connection with Payton. However, Tomasson’s report indicates that this path is not in the cards for Cooks. His choice to forfeit more than $2 million in salary raises eyebrows.
The Buffalo Bills could use an additional target for quarterback Josh Allen, making them a viable option for Cooks. Additionally, he could take on the role previously held by Tutu Atwell in the Los Angeles offense, having played under coach Sean McVay from 2018 to 2019.
As Cooks remains a free agent, fans and analysts alike are eager to see where his journey will take him next.
