TORONTO, Canada — Brandon Ingram has secured a three-year, $120 million contract extension with the Toronto Raptors, just days after being traded from the New Orleans Pelicans. The agreement, which includes a player option for the 2027-28 season, was confirmed by Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul and agents Shy Saee and Mike George.

Ingram, 27, was acquired by the Raptors on February 6 and has been sidelined since December 7 due to a significant ankle sprain. Despite his inactivity, the Raptors demonstrated their commitment by forging a lucrative deal that keeps him off the free-agent market this summer. Toronto views Ingram as a vital asset in bolstering their offense alongside fellow star Scottie Barnes.

“We believe we are acquiring a talented player who can help our half-court offense,” said Raptors General Manager Bobby Webster. “He’s young and entering his prime; we’re expecting a fresh start for him.” During his six seasons in New Orleans, Ingram averaged 20 points per game, marking a remarkable consistency that included a career-high of 23 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 5.2 assists this season.

The Raptors traded Bruce Brown, Kelly Olynyk, a 2026 first-round pick, and a 2031 second-round pick to New Orleans as part of the deal. Ingram was originally drafted second overall by the Los Angeles Lakers in 2016 before his move to New Orleans in 2019 as part of the trade that sent Anthony Davis to the Lakers.

Ingram garnered recognition as an NBA All-Star and was named Most Improved Player in 2020, solidifying his reputation as a premier scorer in the league. His effective shooting, particularly within the three-point line, makes him one of the best mid-range shooters in the NBA, ranking just behind DeMar DeRozan for mid-range shots made per game.

“The Raptors ranked last in the NBA for made off-the-dribble jumpers this season,” noted Ingram’s agency in a statement. “His tremendous performance in this category will be crucial for improving their offense.”

With a strong career average of 22.2 points per game this season, Ingram’s arrival in Toronto injects hope into a franchise eager to enhance its performance in the Eastern Conference.

As the season progresses, the Raptors are looking forward to his return while hoping the contract extension serves as a cornerstone for a promising future together.
