Brandon Nimmo Plays Through Pain as Mets Advance in Postseason
New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo has revealed that he has been contending with plantar fasciitis, a painful condition affecting the foot, during the team’s current postseason campaign. Despite the discomfort, Nimmo remains committed to contributing to the Mets’ efforts on the field. The athlete shared details of his condition following the Mets’ recent 7-3 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Addressing reporters, Nimmo stated that he plans to receive a platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection and wear a walking boot once the season concludes. “We’re going to hope we’re not in that 1%,” Nimmo commented, referencing the small likelihood that surgery might be necessary. He emphasized that surgery is only required in particularly severe cases.
Nimmo has been managing this issue since May, with the condition exacerbating during Game 3 of the National League Division Series against the Philadelphia Phillies. Despite this challenge, he has continued to play a vital role in the Mets’ lineup.
Mets manager Carlos Mendoza expressed confidence in Nimmo’s ability to gauge his own condition. “If he keeps telling me that he’s good to play in the outfield,” Mendoza remarked, “he’s going to be honest with me.” This statement underscores the trust and communication between the player and his manager as the team navigates the high-stakes environment of the playoffs.
