Braves Face Lineup Dilemma with Catchers Baldwin and Murphy

ATLANTA, Georgia — The Atlanta Braves are struggling with a lineup decision as they aim for balance between rookie Drake Baldwin and veteran Sean Murphy. With each player showcasing talent, the team is forced to rotate catchers in their quest for improved offensive production.
On Tuesday night, Baldwin is set to catch Spencer Schwellenbach and bat fifth as the Braves take on the Washington Nationals at Truist Park. Baldwin’s presence in the lineup has sparked excitement among fans, with supporters citing his knack for making impactful plays.
“Every time he’s in the lineup, something good seems to happen,” Braves fans say of Baldwin, who has quickly become a favorite since his debut.
The Braves also face the challenge of fitting both catchers into the daily lineup without impeding the team’s overall performance. Manager Brian Snitker noted that options to maneuver the lineup are limited.
“You can only play one catcher,” Snitker said. The team’s designated hitter, Marcell Ozuna, is firmly in place, and Baldwin has never played left field, leaving the Braves with few alternatives.
As the Braves seek to improve to .500 for the fourth time in two weeks, Baldwin’s skills will be essential in supporting Michael Soroka, who will pitch for the first time against an opposing team at Truist Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. ET.
