Braydon Hawthorne to Announce College Commitment Live on 247 Sports

Pittsburgh, PA — Braydon Hawthorne, a highly sought-after high school basketball player, will announce his college commitment on 247 Sports at 7 p.m. EST on Tuesday. The 6-foot-8, 175-pound wing from Huntington, West Virginia, is considering offers from several top programs, including Duke, West Virginia, Pitt, and Kentucky.
Hawthorne is ranked among the top 75 players nationally by 247 Sports and is the top player in West Virginia for the class of 2025. He has previously visited Duke, Kentucky, Virginia Tech, and West Virginia, in addition to his local option at Pitt.
Recently, Pitt made headlines by reportedly hiring Jay Kuntz, the former Director of Recruiting at West Virginia, who was part of the team that initially recruited Hawthorne. This move aims to strengthen Pitt’s recruiting efforts, although the official announcement has yet to be made.
The Pitt basketball program is currently seeking to fill gaps in their 2026 recruiting class, having recently secured commitments from Henry Lau from Australia and Macari Moore from Michigan. Moore, a three-star prospect, was previously committed to Iowa State before de-committing on March 14.
“Macari is a tenacious competitor who showed winning traits throughout his high school and AAU career,” said Pitt head coach Jeff Capel in a press release. “He plays with an attacking style on both ends of the floor and has built a strong reputation around his work ethic.”
As Hawthorne prepares to make his announcement, all eyes in the basketball community will be on his choice and its potential impact on the future of Pitt’s program.
