F1 Brazilian Grand Prix Qualifying Rain Delay

The qualifying session for the 2024 Formula 1 Brazilian Grand Prix, scheduled to take place at the Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace (Interlagos Circuit) in Sao Paulo, has been delayed indefinitely due to heavy rain and storms in the area.

The session was originally set to begin at 3pm local time on Saturday, November 2, but the inclement weather forced an intervention just over 20 minutes before the scheduled start time.

Earlier in the day, the sprint race went ahead without any rain issues, with Lando Norris of McLaren securing the win after his teammate Oscar Piastri handed over the lead in the closing stages. Max Verstappen of Red Bull Racing lost a podium due to a VSC infringement, dropping him to fourth place and promoting Charles Leclerc to third.

The delay in qualifying adds an extra layer of uncertainty to the weekend, especially given the intense battles between title rivals that have characterized the season so far. The triple-header format, which includes a sprint race and the main grand prix, has heightened the stakes, particularly after Red Bull and Verstappen were handed significant penalties in the previous race in Mexico City.

Fans can follow updates on the qualifying session through various broadcast channels, including ESPN and ESPN Deportes in the United States, Sky Sports and Channel 4 in the UK, and other local broadcasters around the world.
