Brighton Seeks Revenge Against Nottingham Forest in FA Cup Quarterfinal

BRIGHTON, England – Brighton & Hove Albion faces Nottingham Forest in a highly anticipated FA Cup quarterfinal at the Amex Stadium on Saturday, March 29, at 1:15 PM ET. Following a devastating 7-0 defeat to Forest last month, the Seagulls are eager to avenge that loss and secure their spot in the semifinals.
Brighton head coach Roberto De Zerbi is looking to maintain momentum after his team went unbeaten in their last seven matches across all competitions, including a notable 2-2 draw against Manchester City just before the international break. The Seagulls boast an impressive attack with players such as Danny Welbeck, Kaoru Mitoma, and Joao Pedro leading the charge, but they will be wary of injuries that have seen several key players sidelined.
“It’s time for us to show our character and prove that we can bounce back from a tough defeat,” De Zerbi said. “The players are focused and ready to give a strong performance.”
Brighton’s current injury list includes Tariq Lamptey (ankle), Igor Julio (hamstring), Jason Steele (shoulder), James Milner (thigh), and Ferdi Kadioglu (toe). Lewis Dunk and Solly March are among the players expected to return, which could bolster the team’s defensive capabilities.
On the other side, Nottingham Forest is also feeling the strain from injuries. Top goalscorer Chris Wood is doubtful after sustaining an injury during World Cup qualifying with New Zealand. Taiwo Awoniyi is likely to step up in his absence, supported by a midfield that includes Anthony Elanga, Brennan Johnson, and Morgan Gibbs-White, all of whom are key in Forest’s game plan.
“We know Brighton will be out for revenge, but we are confident in our squad,” said Forest manager Nuno Espírito Santo. “We have been improving and we will play our game.”
Nottingham Forest aims to capitalize on counterattacks and use their pace to unsettle Brighton’s defense. Despite their tough earlier match, the Tricky Trees have been consistent in the Premier League, recently achieving a 4-2 victory against Ipswich Town.
Both sides are competing not just for a place in the last four but also for pride, particularly Brighton, who have never lifted the FA Cup but reached the semifinals twice in the last six years. Meanwhile, Forest’s last FA Cup semifinal appearance was in 1991 when they finished as runners-up.
This thrilling matchup is part of a weekend filled with FA Cup action, with hopes high for an underdog story to develop from teams like Preston North End, the only Championship club remaining in the competition.
